THE TIES THAT BIND: "It was really horrible," says British actress Serena Scott Thomas of playing Bruce Willis' kidnapped wife in the upcoming big-screen Hostage. "We spent a lot of time gagged and with our hands tied behind our backs. The director liked to do a lot of different takes and a lot of different angles. It's amazing when you get a tiny, little taste of what it would be like (to be kidnapped); it's really profoundly awful not being able to escape even if it is just a movie."
Thomas was tied up the whole time with Willis' real-life 15-year-old daughter, Rumer Willis, who is playing their characters' daughter in the film. "She's a natural actress totally and an absolute doll," says the sister of "English Patient" actress Kristin Scott Thomas. "We had to keep ourselves cheery with lots and lots of giggling otherwise we would have been depressed. When you're doing stuff like that it gets sort of dark."
